HOW DOES KYBELLA WORK?
Kybella is deoxycholic acid which kills fat cells by dissolving their outer shell, known as the cell membrane, causing the fat to spill out of the fat cells. The body will then break the spilled fat down into smaller particles and eventually absorbs it.
IS KYBELLA SAFE?
Kybella has been in development for 8 years and has been in a number of clinical studies involving over 2000 patients and the safety profile was extensively reviewed by the FDA prior to recent approval. In the largest study, 97.6 percent of treated patients reported improvements in their neck and chin contour. WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF KYBELLA?
Most common side effects of Kybella are bruising, pain during injection, firmness, and swelling. All of these side effects typically resolve within a few days. Most patients had the greatest side effects on their first injection, and had less in subsequent injections.
CAN KYBELLA BE USED IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE BODY?

HOW IS KYBELLA ADMINISTERED?
Treatment can only be administered by a Kybella-trained healthcare specialist. The skin is cleaned and prepped with a topical numbing cream, then marked with a grid of dots to indicate exact injection sites. There is a slight burning sensation during the injections, but the entire procedure is over in less than 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat and your desired profile.
WHAT SHOULD I TELL MY DOCTOR BEFORE TREATMENT?
Before receiving Kybella, tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you:

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
After treatment, patients can resume there regular schedule. Swelling is expected and bruising can occur with any treatment involving a needle after a Kybella treatment, we recommend planning for a two week social downtime. The swelling time varies by patient.
HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?
Since Kybella actually destroys fat cells, the results of treatment are long-lasting. This is because once the fat cells are destroyed, they cannot store or accumulate fat. Unlike other injectable cosmetic treatments, no re-treatment is expected after you complete your treatment plan with Kybella.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
This depends on the area being targeted and the amount of fat loss desired. Most patients will require between two-six Kybella treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Since the injectable produces permanent fat loss, the treatments can be spread out for longer intervals.
HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE RESULTS?
Kybella fat reduction results are not immediate but well worth the wait. You will begin to see visible results within four to six weeks, with continued improvements after each session. The full result is achieved three months after your last treatment session.
